2008 Malvira Roero Arneis

Arneis is a white grape varietal common in the Piemonte region of Italy.  Unfortunately it is not that popular in the UK or the US which is a real shame.  I tried the 2008 Malvira last night and was very impressed.  Lovely peach, fruity taste.  A real white wine quaffer.  This should be bought in cases and ready to drink now. Perfect for the summer or any time of the year for that matter.  I served this with Jerk Tuna Steaks grilled on the Weber….Antonio Gallioni from Wine Advocate is also a fan:

“The 2008 Roero Arneis Renesio is a touch more focused and energetic than the Trinita. White peaches, flowers, almonds and spices meld together seamlessly with notable purity in this pretty Arneis. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011.  88pts

Available at Waitrose for only 10£ a bottle….very good value, and a nice alternative to Chardonnay….

2008 Roger Sabon Cotes du Rhone

Delicious inexpensive Cotes du Rhone from one of the benchmark Chateauneuf du Pape producers, Roger Sabon.  Refreshing, crisp, hints of raspberry and cherries.  Classic grenache blend. refreshing indeed. Drink now, but will keep at least another 3 to 5 years.   I bought it at Uncorked in Central London   www.uncorked.co.uk   9.99 £ a bottle.
